KUCHING: A cable car project may be implemented in Pantai Damai soon to turn the area into a tourist haven.
Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who suggested Sarawak SEDC undertake the project, said he envisioned cable car lines crossing the river between Damai and Kampung Pasir Panjang.
“I feel we can have another project in Damai … a cable car crossing the river to link Pantai Damai to Kpg Pasir Panjang. To complement it, we can have a family park, second home project and sports project,” he said at SEDC’s 40th anniversary celebration dinner on Friday.
He believed the project would make the area more integrated and would be able to help sell Sarawak as the preferred tourist spot in the country.
On another matter, Taib advised SEDC to interact with people on the street and try to scout for those with a nose for business.
He said people from the Bumiputera community had the capability of becoming good businessmen given guidance.
“SEDC should continue to help small businessmen succeed.”
It recorded a revenue of RM45.18 million in 2011 and pre-tax profit of RM27.15 million.
“The continued success of SEDC for the past 16 years has enabled it to record a pre-tax profit of RM316.09 million and a fund of over RM110 million as at end of last year.”
Also present at the event were Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg and SEDC chairman Datuk Talib Zulpilip

Nice. I like to see cable cars dangle across the river as long as no crocrodiles down below.

Before this, it was a cable car propose at Mt Santubong and its also appear in newspaper. So i take this #OOPS# as bullshit.
