Never heard of it before, you mean it's not the gear whine and actually produced by a set of speakers?
Perhaps only in Kuching. If it attracts attention, then I guess it's counted as a safety feature I guess (annoying one I can imagine). At least you're not going to run over anyone while reversing..

Kuching ppl mod cars. they can't afford turbo and nitro. so they just install the turbo meter on side of their dashboard. they can't afford jet powered engine. so they install jet sound. they got n place to hang their clothes at home. so they make giant spoilers. Another one, they install a white halogen headlights which can be annoying when you come across it at night. especially from the cars on opposite lane. Just blur ur vision.

Oh those sounds! If I interpret your descriptions correctly... yeah, it's really loud and I can hear it from inside a building, on the second floor! Pretty soon they'll get sick of it themselves. I hope the town doesn't get overrun by this kind of maniacal obsession with "artificial beauty" for cars.
It will be very very annoying if so.

Okay bahh... they so creative... one fellow install on bike... everytime tekan brake, ia berbunyi...
One fellow using kancil do dat as well... Im sure soon many more would join their ranks :D Altho its loud.. I dont find it offensive, I find sticking your reverse lights red is bloody offensive and idiotic. How can ppl tell your reversing?
