I believe both Boulevard and Spring Sushi King's offer same portions kua... especially the conveyor belt items - how to change that?

The Big Apple Donuts here also practices giving away free glazed donut with every coffee bought.

I tried it yesterday - from time I lined up till I pay took about 30-40 mins. The most annoying thing is when you get ppl who stand there forever deciding what they want!

I mean c'mon, you should already decide what you want when you get a full view of the donuts on display before it reaches ur turn!

My analysis of the donuts is that dunkin' donuts is more dense and dry - almost like its between bread and cake. Hence I don't like it. Its a very Western style of donut.

Kripy Kreme, J.Co and Big Apple donuts are softer, fluffier and not so sweet. Hence I think they suit my Asian palate better. Plus the flavors they have on offer like Green tea and Durian also suit Asian market better.

For durian lovers - you really should try the Big Apple Durian donut. Its awesome!

This is just hearsay but someone told me that the operation of the cinema was decided by auction and Star cineplex won?? Can anyone confirm?

* btw, the forum does read (and look) so much better with the absence of postings from a certain, ahem, regular lurker here.

My source tells me that the Spring management has made a lot of concessions to GSC to open in town. GSC is just worried about the market, and the concessions given, according to my source, is quite substantial. There was no auction involved, according to him, GSC was approached specifically.

Anybody got the idea how much does the donuts costs? Or they come with a set?!

1 donut for Rm2.30, 6 for RM12, 12 for RM22. The more u buy, the cheaper it gets! Last time in KL, they got promotion.. Buy a drink n get a donut for free. Maybe the promotion is applicable throughout malaysia.

I personally think donuts are overrated... but I gotta admit I like Krispy Kreme very much after sampling them in Sydney and Seoul b4.

Tried J.Co, not too bad.. but I definitely didn't quite like Dunkin. Dunno why. Have yet to try Big Apple. Will wait for the hype to slow down b4 I go try.

i couldn't agree more. Go Krispy Kreme. I went to B.A last nite and had to Q for about 20 mins. bought a dozen of donuts but m quite dissapointed with the taste though. Personally, i think J.Co is better.

Hot Berry
Essentially it’s Semi Glazed with a strawberry-flavoured, jelly-filled centre as opposed to the usual hole.

Duren Duren
Flavoured for the King of Fruits, Duren Duren is a durian-flavoured donut. Durian is a spiky, foul-smelling fruit and is a much sought-after in South East Asia.

Chocoring
Chocoring is a basic donut, smothered in chocolate, which is neither too rich nor too sweet, and provides a very palatable taste.

Cool Blue
For our tastes, the blue berry jelly in the centre of this standard Cool Blue donut, is both a bit too sweet and bit too artificial.

Kiwi Blitz
The ring of the donut is covered with white icing and the donut hole is filled with a kiwi-flavoured jelly.

Semi Glacier
Unsurprisingly, Semi Glacier is a variation on Glacier. What makes this semi, are the thin drizzles of icing sugar atop a base of a standard Glacier donut.
Say Cheese
This donut features grated cheese.

Go Nutz
Soaked in jam and covered with peanuts.

Bananarama
A creamy banana-flavoured filling in the donut centre, surrounded by a wall of sweet chocolate.

Green Teaser
This is green tea-flavoured donut.

Chocoholic
Chocolate on the outside, and even more chocolate on the inside.

Iceberg
Covered with a fine dust of sugar and filled with a creamy, vanilla filling.

Whitnut
Covered with creamy vanilla and filled with peanut butter.
Snowy
It is a sub-Glacier coated with a very thin layer of powdered sugar.

101 Dalmations
White chocolate covered with black sesame seeds.

Choreo
A donut dipped and covered with crushed Oreo cookies.

Spicy Flossy
A donut covered with chicken floss.

Mango Tango
Mango Tango consists of a donut ring dipped in mango-flavoured syrup, accompanied by a generous dollop of fresh cream in the hollowed-out centre.

Glacier
Glazed with sugar.

Californian Almond
Dipped with creamy vanilla and topped with almond.
Moonraker
Smothered in chocolate and encrusted with Coco Pops.

Chococinno
It is smothered in a creamy, sweet chocolate on the outside and is stuffed with a creamy mixture of very rich, coffee-and-chocolate flavoured cream in the centre.

Big Apple Donuts & Coffee plans overseas expansion

KUCHING: Malaysia’s Big Apple Donuts & Coffee is expanding overseas with plans to open outlets in Shanghai, Bangkok, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.

“Several international outlets will open by year-end,” its founder and director Mike Chan informed reporters at the opening of the Big Apple Donuts & Coffee outlet at tHe Spring yesterday.

Chan said this shopping mall has received tremendous response from the public because ‘it is new’ to Sarawak.

He said besides the donut outlet at tHe Spring, another outlet will open in Kuantan this month and a few more next month. By yearend, 30 donut outlets will have opened throughout Malaysia.

Chan learned to make donuts while in the United States a few years ago.

He said the open concept of the store lets customers observe the whole donut making process from start to finish.

“Cleanliness, which is our priority, is guaranteed here as customers can watch the whole process. At the garnishing stage, each donut is individually garnished which is where our tagline ‘Every piece is a masterpiece’ comes from.”

He claimed that donuts made at Big Apple Donuts & Coffee are different as they are less sweet.

Some 100 lucky patrons received a free box of half a dozen donuts at tHe Spring outlet yesterday. Each customer came armed with a newspaper cutting to be entitled to the offer.

First-time patrons at Big Apple Donuts & Coffee will find themselves spoilt for choice with over 30 sumptuous and exotic flavours to choose from. Its range of beverage includes the best coffee from Italy – the ‘Illy’ coffee.

Big Apple Donuts & Coffee is located on the ground floor of tHe Spring (next to Secret Recipe).

Opening hours are from 10am to 10pm daily including on public holidays.
