about the too fast for most chinese to catch up to... i have to agree & disagree.

agree because not all china especially the inland is still very primitive, imagine still can survive by less than $2 permonth.... hard to imagine, right? we got internet & stuffs but at this internet age some people still sleep one house with the chicken especially during winter.

disagree due to the so call "western standards" are not getting too fast for chinese to catch up, just that the west people are very scared that china can reverse engineered their technology. in order to stop that, they have to "pattern" everything. so that although already catch up, still can't cheaply sell to other consumer around the world. can only in domestic market.
whereas china people rip off steve job's to make more fanciful ipod. malaysian people by their own government creating cars like proton savvy.

I was talking about the mind set of the people, not the tech savy they are able to imitate. True, give them anything, and they can get a cheaper copy to you, and depending on how much you are willing to pay, even better version of the original product. When I said too fast for them to catch up, albeit some of the southern provinces since they were mind setted by the Hongkees long ago, I meant their way of thinking is pretty much behind the others.

Talking about the primitive inland, well, that is changing cos a lot of their youngsters are already leaving the kampungs and venturing into the big cities to look for better life. In the beginning, not all would find, but now, like Malaysia had faced, and is still facing, factories findind it hard to retain workers with workers jumping around jobs like Mexican jumping beans. So, the few, old and children, doesn't really make that difference cos when the children grows up, they would up ditty and vrooom to the cities like their predesessors. So, where does that leave the "primitive inlanders"?
