I wouldn't mind signing up for kendo or iaido either!

Kendo reminds me of sabre fencing...only with bamboo sticks. Might give it a go if the schedule is right.

Haha...that would be cool! Then we'll be the Catscity kendoists and bring our bamboo sticks to gatherings.

"On guard, pret, hit with bamboo sticks!"

The Catscity version of the fencing 'on guard, are you ready, fence!'

Is hard to keep a dojo, dojang, etc going for martial arts which don't involve competition. People tend to get tired or lost interest(no motivation) in it. Apart from that, the government wouldn't bother to help out since it doesn't bring any benefits to them(gold medal....)

How to keep people interested in sports? It all depends on what they like. I'm not a fan of football though nearly everyone around me is; and while I'm a fan of rugby, most people aren't.

Martial arts would always have a scene somewhere. My mum did jujitsu once upon a time, fencing exists in Malaysia amazingly, rifling is within easy reach of Kuchingites and archery which was once relegated to an oddity is something of a growing sport here.

However, you have to admit, karate, teakwondo and wushu would have a really strong base here compared to the aforementioned sports.
