It does not get outdated as fast, when you only use the laptop for what it should be doing only, such as presentations and all other necessary documents programs.

Other than that, what else is there to upgrade in a laptop?

Graphics card? Nah

Sound card? Nah, use earphone

That's why the laptop was invented in the first place, mobility, simple and functional is main priority

no la. only my room hot. :P

Actually sunfire if your going for laptop. performance is not priority. so there is no need for constant updates to the hardware. As they key is mobility. like ed said. and since updating is almost non-existant for laptops usually ppl just stick with it until it dies.. making it more "value for money" as compared to desktop PC. as ppl like me keep changing perfectly good display card and motherboard and other internals just to keep up with the ever growing need for POWER

and if you go for laptop, the main thing you should consider is how long can the battery last from fully charged.

I've seen impresive hardwares planted in new laptops, with all the goodies, high end sound card, high end grahics, lots of hardisk space, very very big screen and all other fancy gears, but all that takes up power, and when you check how long does the battery last? 4 hours? Not bad, yeah, 4 hours of standby that is, if you use it all the time probably last you less than 2.5hours.

who still uses the ol' floppy disk drive anyways?? there are probably some, but not that many.

desktop replacements are probably the way to go for mobility and performance in one, but they're freakin expensive!! but most high end parts nowadays are mostly built for desktops, so even if there is a really good desktop replacement, a desktop pc would definitely still outdo it.

If I want performance and mobility (if necessary though), I would go and choose the 'cube' desktop cpu :)

floppy disk & window 98 is still very useful for trouble shooting hardware problems. now xp has so many driver spyware & malware. we actually dunno they doing what. some commands can do in dos but can't work in windows one, but microsoft probably doesn't want to trouble us to know that. :P
