I think last time when I had the desktop I change like at least once in half a year? well, to the most, I would certainly upgrade in a years time or more than that.

I cannot recall anyone I know (except for those computer noobs) who does not upgrade or touch anything for 3 years!! do you?

Now that I own a laptop, hmm, that would be the case though

Not everyone is born rich like you edgar.

for my case, yes i upgraded my comp in the past 3 years. I bought a 1gb thumbdrive and plug into my usb drive.
That makes my total pc 81 gig inclusive of my 80gig hardisk.

does that consider as upgrading edgar? are you calling me a noob?

Of course you are not a noob, you have your own website, how can you be a noob?

A computer noob is someone who has no idea about computer at all, all they know is, as long as it is running, they wouldnt care, they wouldn't care about the technology ahead of them.

Well, honestly, I haven't seen anyone holding back the same computer hardwares for 3 years :p, seriously, I am sorry if I mislooked anyone, but I really haven't seen anyone.

They had either upgraded, or changed to a new system :)

I am not rich, I just couldnt resist, how technology changes each year, how new hardwares and more powerful tools comes in every year.

Why is keeping 3 year old (or older hardware) being labelled a noob?

Incidentally new technology cost money... heaps of it... I have been changing whole pcs every 3 years (some times 4 years) for the last 15 years. Why 3 year cycle? Its because after 3 years, the software requirements maxes out the hardware specifications. Moneys worth.

When is the next cycle? NEXT YEAR. NEW OS! NEW CORE!

It's not how much your tool is worth or how new it is... its how you utilize it.

Yeah, not upgrading doesn't mean you're a noob. I'd upgrade every 6 months if I can, except that I ain't working and upgrades require cash, and lots of it.
