Here are some fresh photo taken today. Some sneak peak on the event. You can still catch it tomorrow at Civic Centre. The event is quite interesting, you don't see these rare cats very often.

Please wait for the thumbnails to load.

Lovely steals the show in Kuching

KUCHING: A Siberian tiger cub on loan from the Selang Zoo in Kulai, Johor, is definitely the main attraction at the 3rd International Cat Show's opening here yesterday.

Accompanied by her trainer Sivapriyan Jayasingam, five-month-old Lovely attracted many excited children and adults. Some visitors took the opportunity to pose for photographs with the female cub.

“It’s not often you get to take a photo with a tiger. You can touch her or carry her, she’s very tame,” Sivapriyan said.

Organised by the Sarawak Cat Club, the two-day show at the Civic Centre also featured 130 cats of various breeds and pedigree, including Persian, Siamese and the more exotic Norwegian Forest, Ragdoll and Bengal.

Organising chairman Dr Huey Lee Hui Lin said the show was aimed at creating awareness on the proper care of cats.

“We hope to inculcate the same tender loving care towards the beautiful cats that are being shown here as well as to the alley cats or ‘nyeng’ in the kampung and longhouse,” she said.

The Chief Minister’s wife Datuk Laila Taib, who opened the show, hoped that the local Sarawak tabby would one day be recognised as a pedigree cat.

“Local cat lovers and breeders should work together to promote the Sarawak tabby as a pedigree cat,” she said.
