I don't quite understand your question - are you saying you've bought the camera or are you asking to get cheaper prices for them?

Regardless, you've made a nice choice and hope you enjoy it very much.

My own camera just arrived in my hands finally - an Olympus Sp550UZ. I just mainly want the Ultra Zoooooom function, but it's far exceeding my expectations.

Well, its compact, has 18x optical zoom, and is small and nice to handle. What I did not expect is that the white balance is superb, and the fact I have not once used flash even in dark(ish) places, and the pictures are still came out very good. The pictures needed very little post tweaks in photoshop. The super macro was excellent as is the wide angle.

However the joy was short-lived. I found out the camera didn't want to accept rechargeables (it indicated low batt the moment I put in freshly charged ones in) but it was fine for disposables, which I first used so I didn't notice the problem earlier - it was in fact a defect and they're having a look at it currently so now I'm back to being camera-less until a replacement arrives (hopefully without the same problem)

To Bluebellz:

I don't know of the Panasonic prices online for malaysia, but good luck in find them. I'm in a bit of a hurry here so I cant find them for you, maybe others can help.

They'll probably only need to reprogramme it. Or maybe your batteries were not properly charged.

Google is your friend. According to this site
http://www.moresales.com.my/catalog/entry/uekxwzkf.shtml

The price for your Panasonic is about RM1040.

I've tried different other rechargeables known to be fully working in an SLR, it's definitely a defect and Olympus is looking into it. Most likely a batch defect.

I got to know of someone who's got an Canon S3 with the same problem - spits out rechargeables at a very fast rate. She thought it was her own batteries and hadn't occurred to her it might be defective as well.

The difference is that with hers it doesn't give an indication of low-batt warning when putting in fresh cells - only after about an hour or so it will indicate low and die. She's using 2500Mah AA batts.

Her's, like mine, was fine with disposables, and she'd just been using it with disposables ever since. Screw the environment, who needs it anyway? :P

Maybe it's a common occurance for eletronics that they sometimes can't recognise rechargeables?

Why not consider Nikon D40X. Great DSLR for similar price of pro-sumer.
