the current shoplot occupy by mcdonalds and bata was Oriental shopping centre.and ang cheng ho building was torn down using explosives.saw it live.hehe...

As I recall, before the Somerset Gateway Kuching and Segi College building at Jalan Bukit Mata was constructed, there were some 3 or 4 storey shop lots. It used to house a seafood restaurant (Sea Good) at the ground floor and a snooker centre somewhere upstairs. According to my mom, there used to be a shopping centre there back in the early 80s' (or was it 70s'??), before UpWell was opened. But it was the first and only shopping centre that, you even had to pay for the entrance fee.

I'm not sure if this piece of information is correct or not. I was too young to remember, or perhaps wasn't even born yet. Maybe someone can clarify this.. :D

anybody can tell me the old big house next to Chonglin Park ,siapa punya ? i remembered got a concrete Chinese traditional entrance near the road side.
