Length: 1hr 41min
Main Cast: Diane Keaton, Mandy Moore, Gabriel Macht, Tom Everett Scott, Lauren Graham, Piper Perabo, Stephen Collins
Movie Director Michael Lehmann

In the comedy, Because I Said So, Diane Keaton’s character, divorced mother of three, Daphne Wilder, is not far removed from the meddling mum in Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice. With two daughters – Maggie (Lauren Graham) and Mae (Piper Perabo) - already hitched, Daphne is determined to make sure her youngest, Milly (Mandy Moore) finds the right man for matrimony – or, more precisely, the man Daphne thinks is right. The title of the movie comes from one of Daphne’s familiar and often quoted catch phrases and succinctly sums up her pushy, overbearing attitude – immediately evident in a pre-credit sequence at both Maggie and Mae’s weddings where her bossy boots nature is very much on show.

This modern-day Mrs Bennet now turns her attention to Milly, whose track record with men has been catastrophic. Unknown to Milly, Daphne decides to take control by placing a lengthy, carefully worded online personal ad seeking a mate for her daughter.

The applicants – interviewed by Daphne, of course – are a disastrous bunch, until smooth, good-looking architect, Jason (Tom Everett Scott) turns up and Daphne’s eyes light up. As far as she’s concerned, Jason is Mr Right, but just before he comes onto the scene, Johnny (Gabriel Macht), a curious onlooker of these odd proceedings, introduces himself to Daphne, finds out what’s going on and asks the manipulating mum if he could be a contender. He is summarily dismissed by Daphne who takes one look at him and declares him a no-go. He’s a musician after all, and, consequently, unreliable. He’s got a son, too, but Daphne doesn’t know that yet.

With some slick stage management by her mother, Milly meets and falls for Jason, but, not to be deterred, Johnny arranges his own introduction. Soon the ecstatic Milly is dating both men, but when Daphne finds out that one of them is Johnny she pushes even harder for Jason to become her future son-in-law and her interference in her daughter’s life grows out of all proportion… with inevitable complications.

Personally, I wouldn't watch this movie if not because my girl wanted to. I do like Diane Keaton but I hate Mandy Moore, but Diane wasn't very good in this movie, I somehow hated her in this movie.

It was simply ridiculous and annoying of her cast in this movie. I didn't enjoy this movie, it is crappy to me and not 'that' funny and entertaining either, when it is supposed to be.

The jokes were lame, really.

Ratings:

5/10

Waste of money.

Mandy Moore is in a couple of movies but I just hate that blonde. Maybe she is better off in porns.

Yes, a very girly movie, like I said, I wouldn't go if not because my girl wanted to watch it.

In case you are wondering why I said Mandy is better off in porns? Because she slept with 2 different guys at the same period in two relationships.

Yes, it disgust me, just for the sake of finding which man she really prefer. She was partially a whore in this cast
