I would not say Public should be aware should say public should be more responsible towards this park and be more civilised. Same goes for council... no pointing u and I
i wonder why council release statement say they didn't put fish there? the only logical way they could put the fish there is some "$" is involved in this action (buy fish, then put fish). if they deny putting it, also means they didn't buying put there. hence no $ is involved, am i exactly right?

I know this is a very old topic but I came across it while searching to see if fishing was allowed there...

I've lived in Kuching nearly 9 years now and only just heard of this place!

I found a news article saying we're not allowed to fish there "because it's a public park". Well I AM 'the public', we all are - so why no fishing?

If it's a public park then let the public fish!

I love Kuching but the fishing thing is crazy here. In the UK where I'm from every town has at least one lake with fish in it, and the local guys will go fishing there, couples go for walks, kids play, it's nice.

Here it's all "Public! No fishing!"

Or maybe they let you go fishing once a year, which isn't fishing at all because it's like a discotheque, with loud music and kids screaming and some idiot DJ yelling over it all. I tried it once at the library, never again!

Fishing is a fine hobby, it teaches youngster patience and the need for preparation and things like that. It's relaxing, a good chance to get away from the wife for a few hours - it's great.

"Public! No fishing!"

That is crazy.

In UK, in France, even in Thailand, people will pay good money to fish, even though it's 'catch and release'. They just want a relaxing time in nice surroundings. The result is many very beautiful lakes, well cared for, a pleasure for both fishermen and families.

Maybe on your stroll around the lake you find a man, perhaps with his son, reading a book, waiting for a fish. Is this so bad? So wrong? We must ban this, because it's "public"?

We ARE the public.
