Agree with the poor traffic that we have at kuching. you cant blame JKR from not working. they don't have any $$$ for the public works coz ALL THE $$$ has gone to the DUN....

two of the most irritating traffic lights i have ever seen are the one at jalan uplands/ong tiang swee and also laksamana cheng ho/stampin.

from red to green to red again in just 5 seconds. just barely enough time for a car to pass through, if u drives a manual car, by the time u engage the gear, its red already.

a lot of the traffic lights should be removed and unecessary turnings removed too.

Kuching is the city of traffic lights. tooooooooo many of them.... even the "highway" of Batu Kawa also hv soo many unecessary turns and traffic lights.

Not sure about Uplands/Ong Tiang Swee but the lights at Cheng Ho/Stampin (the one at Jalan Song where if you go straight it will be Laksamana Cheng Ho) is annoying.

Another annoying one is the traffic light at St. Paul school, the one where going straight will take you to Green Road. That one also change light very quick.

The stretch along Green Road from Chonglin Apartments to Saberkas is HELL, especially during evening time. You can easily be stuck there for 20mins or more waiting for your turn.

traffic lights in kuching damn sucks. it's the capital of sarawak and yet, not even upgrade to new ones; especially in town area...

traffic light junction at mile6 finally completed after the long construction for nearly half a year; cause traffic jam and road diversion... i wonder what take them soooooo longggg to get rid of the small roundabouts and build traffic light junction and resurface the roads...

worst and 'longest time-waiting' traffic light junction:-

1. Jalan Keretapi-Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce-Green Road
2. Jalan Song-Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho-Jalan Tun Jugah
3. Simpang Tiga-Jalan Mendu-Batu Lintang-Tabuan Road

hopefully these 3 traffic light junctions replaced with fly-overs since kuching is soon gonna be like kl before too long...

New upgraded traffic light at Penrissen Road, 6th mile round-about (now become a traffice light junction) seem to be NOT working at all, every morning during peak hour, still has "Very LONG Queue", imaging the queue is started from the new traffic light junction to 7 mile traffic ligth junction (about 1 mile or 1.6km long). What I can conclude is the upgrade or not, it does not help the traffic flow at all. Eventually, I think the authortiy should refer the junction design at Stephen Yong Road and 4 1/2 mile bypass, to allow Serian to Kuching traffic flow to move without stopping at the traffic light. AND of course, 4 1/2 mile junction will have a long queue... SO, conclusion is, new traffic junction just brings its own problem to next junction, NO end to it. This is simply because there are too many cars around... So, reduce car on the road and cut down the queuse /jam, a complete, comfortable and reasonable priced public transport for everyone is a pratical solution, but the 1 million dollar question is, are we willing to use the public transport while we are so get used to our own transport?

If you call Kuching a city of traffic lights, you have yet to see New York. Traffic lights at every corner, roughly every 200m you see a traffic light.

I agree that the Mendu-Tabuan Road and Tun Jugah-Cheng Ho Road junctions need to be upgraded into a flyover at the very least. Bottlenecks there are bad and the narrow streets do not help the situation.

Would I use public transportation when I've grown so accustomed to my car? It depends but I'd stick with my car, unless traffic is simply that bad and parking fees are astronomical.
