i think we need patient and polite drivers. one thing good about sarawakians. we don simply honk. another, i don think we have so much money to change the still good traffic lights in kch or elsewhere. we can use that for other things like sensored traffic lights than can think by themselves eg if there is no car. it will change straight to red light automatically instead of green. that's better than having countdown as people will race even more.

Not that we're patient. Kuching/Sarawak ppl can be very dangerous. you honk at wrong ppl, the next thing u know. car window smashed. lol. see the driver putting the hands out with big gold chain holding a ciggy. then dun play play liao. wahah

anyway, I still think our traffic lights are very much usable.

that's right...just that the traffic lights here in Kuching are very old and outdated lor. by right, it's about time for the JKR people to start replacing all the old traffic lights with the newer and brighter version (l.e.d traffic lights). in fact, changing from bulb to l.e.d traffic lights is good for drivers and motorcyclists so that they can get the clear vision from what they can see ahead while driving especially during hot sunny days, heavy rain or foggy and sometimes haze...prevent from road accidents to happen...

imagine haze or heavy rain, and what a coincidence, that particular traffic lights are out of order or the bulb 'hangus', very dangerous le. if drivers or motorcyclists didnt drive carefully, for sure will kena accident even if drive slowly 'coz can't see clearly le. first thing we should blame is the JKR people for not taking any actions lor...like i said, they change the traffic lights alang-alang de...

I think that fairly concern their budget.

wait until rosak, then they will change into newer ones. so what u can do.. 3am. go wreak it. lol

if me, sure tengah malam will go and wreck it...throw big stones or use hammer to smash/spoil the traffic lights then JKR people will install the l.e.d type. haha...but when i try to think back, not a good idea le...later police or even road users will see me and arrest me then bring to the police station or masuk jail for vandalizing traffic lights...even worse the news will spread on the newspapers front page (especially chinese newspapers). malu le...lol :P

Nice thread. I do support the use of newer brighter LED lights as like you all have agreed, they are brighter and more efficient to run than bulbs, and they last longer to.

However, traffic light sets are expensive, they don't come in the cost of hundreds, but in thousands. So it will most probably be replaced with newer LED-based only when the old ones are faulty and beyond repair.

So I would suggest you to grab a rock each, and throw at them, and make them replace a new system for you.

Or, drive your car into the pole and they will get a new set for you as well.

Those pictures are good evidences to be posted to the company?? or those responsible for the traffic lights...call the number display at the pole of the traffic light, let them see their shits! Also, th signboards in KUching SUX and look so dull....take a look of the banner...the way they print it and the way they hang it.....if the walking on the streets they might end up hiting the banner

LED is not only brighter, I suppose it consumes less power, too?

I would prefer Traffic Light with 'Digital Countdown' feature..

Is there any in Kuching? I heard there are some in Semenanjung..
