Just today, a friend of mine ask me if i could have a look at her notebook because she wasn't able to connect to the wi-fi line.
After several attemps, i can't made the notebook connect to the net. Here's the things that i did..

1. I connect the notebook to the available line.
2. After connected to the local network, the bridge conneting the Local Network to the Internet can't work.
3. I try to check her IP setting but it was all right.
4. Then i restart her laptop and still doesn't work.
5. After that, i disable the wi-fi adapter then enable it again yet cannot.
6. Final option, i called PTPL's IT lecturer and IT Technition and after here a bit of 'poking her and there' for about 2 hours still cannot! They angkat tangan..
7. Padahal yesterday i atur her laptop the same way as no. 1 can connect maa....and today it doesn't work

So if you guys out there can help me, help me..
My image of 'this-guy-quite-good-in-IT' will be tercalar a bit...
EVEN THE PTPL'S IT LECTURER AND TECHNITION ALSO CANNOT !!

P/S: She's using Windows Vista and using AMD Anthlon. And she's thinking to format it to Windows XP because of the menyusahkan perkara caused by Windows XP.

option 1:
Screw vista, go switch back to XP.

option 2:
bring the laptop to wherever she bought it and ask them to fix the problem till its fix

Windows operating system are made for easy connection and stuff. there isn't any necessary to go through all the dumb technical configuration. All u need is go through the setup.

- install wifi card
- make sure u go through the correct procedure of the wifi card
- make sure its detected in the system

then on the windows site,
go to the connection stuff and setup the usual adsl creation process.

if it doesn't work, make sure you look into your hardware as well. bring another laptop you're using at home that are able to online. and use it to test all the hardware.

Have you try it with Windows XP before?

Might it be your DNS problem?

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com

Enter the local DNS IP provided by TMNET. Ask TMNET for the area DNS.

Critical suggestion for unresolved issue...

PERFORM RECOVERY!!
backup your files and restart
Press F10 during startup and start the recoery process.
After 10 minutes, you have a fresh vista OS.
Do the network settings again.

I haven't encountered such problems running Vista on my new laptop, it works just perfectly fine.

But I have had the same experience with my friend's laptop running on XP, it just works with LAN cable but just wouldn't work on wireless, no matter what you configure.

Funny. Ended up reformating the whole OS again.

yea make sure you use proper code for the link if the link doesn't fit into the page. I am kind not to delete the whole posting with a click of a button this time. next time, i will just do. so make sure you don't dump the whole long url into the page. use the sample coding below instead.
