Just an announcement to make

Fort Margherita is currently closed with no further notice about the reopening. according to the Sarawak Tourism Board, I was told that the artifacts and stuff inside were moved to other places which is most likely the museum temporary. The place is closed due to the nearby construction of Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) building and it poses a hazard to visitors. (information from the STB's tourist hotline)

Also based on the articles posted previously, it was stated that the structure itself is old and has lack of maintenance. this may pose a danger risk to visitors, therefore its not open to visitors

It's such a waste. It's a beautiful spot. Good location shot for weddings and cosplays even.

It's a great waste of a tourist opportunity. People from Europe, etc., love to see old castles and things like this. Surely they could have preserved the old site for a fraction of what they are paying for the new building.

Its been closed for about 2 years if I am not wrong. If you ever come to Kuching again, make a fuss about it at the Sarawak Tourism Board center. They listen to tourist more than they listen to the locals.

I wonder if the castle is up for sale. I would want it if I can afford ahaha

i think there are too few items on display inside Fort Margherita. Not a place I would want to visit.
