Wow! Just called them up and they gave me rates for August. Very expensive! For Deluxe room in August price is RM 580 - 30% and for Premier room in Spa Wing price is RM 880 - 30%!
That's very expensive and too much for me.

I am now thinking of going to Holiday Inn Damai - any comments on that one?

The room in Damai beach is not bad as they had just renovated last year. Service wise, inconsistent. Sometime they are really good ( off peak) and sometime it can be horrible. There are quite a lot of foreign tourist (from US and Europe) staying there.

If you just want to relax and not going to beach, you can stay at
http://www.journeymalaysia.com/islanddamainanga.htm. It is not big but very cosy.

Thanks - looks really nice and ideal for a real chill out time. I'll give them a call.

Anyone have the latest news on the Damai Puri resort? Is the adult swimming pool and all other facilities opened? Any comparisons between Damai Puri Resort and Holiday Inn Damai Beach Resort? Thanks.

Puri = Balinese word for palace.

So, it is the Damai Palace Resort.

Have yet to go there, the spa should be open now, and considering they are trying to be a luxury hotel offering exclusive privacy, 800 for a room sounds about right if they want to enter the publications of Conde Nast Traveller and Travel + Living.

I think he means the cable cars going up to Mt Santubong. I recall a thread on this somewhere here.
