D60 is still within the D40x range. so doesn't quite interest me.
the no AF motor and the no upper LCD is a turnoff. so.. not very interested.

Still waiting for the hobbyist level SLR from Nikon . expecting D80 range models

The new stuff you get on D60 includes a sensor cleaner, adaptive dynamic range, the ability to recognize Eye-Fi cards, and a stop-motion movie mode. The Eye-Fi card is world’s first wireless SD memory card for digital cameras. This wireless memory card is capable of sending photos wirelessly from a digital camera to a Wi-Fi-enabled Mac or PC using wireless networks aka “hot spots”.

hmm nothing quite new with that. you can get a SD Eye Fi card and use it on any SD card compatible Nikon camera. says here

D60 specs: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25438

I see... ya it's quite true la, pretty much the same like the D40x. By the way, you heard of the new released tilt/shift lens (Nikon PC-E Nikkor 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt/Shift lens)? which making regular scenes look like miniatures. That's cool eh. Is that technology new or what?

very old technology liao. Nikon hardly release any of those lens. the only one i knew about was the 85mm f2.8 Nikkor tilt shift lens. Canon on the other hand some numerous of T/S lens.

if you heard of lensbaby, it basically doing the same thing. Or save thousands of ringgit and buy a RM5 rubber plunger and make your own! ---> here

Wah...very pro comments bor.

After have chance to look at the comparison between D60 and D40x, D60 basically is upgrade of D40x or they should call it D40xII this will make current D40x user get really piss off!

Do really know why nikon did that.

tak ada pro. amateur saja. haha. I guess Nikon just wants to upgrade the entry level slr technology with xpeed processor thing to compete with Canon newly release SLR range which is not an entry level slr price.

Still I assume they're targeting alot of people who wants to take good quality photos at minimum cost.

I would rather get an SLR at a price of RM2000, rather than getting Canon's prosumer camera series like Canon S5 IS or others.

Here you go, this is the reason,

The retailer must find hard to sell D40x consider it just launched few months back. Alternatively they maybe could send back to nikon for refurbish become D60.

the hot iron peak selling for D40x is over. and the sales and hype has already slump. Many people sold their D40x and upgraded to something higher end. So the D40x are circulating in the market. old and new. ahah

I don't think they're manufacturing it anymore.

Nikon D80 has stopped production as I heard. speculations indicates there will be a new one replacing D80 very soon. Some say September. I'll just wait for it.

Waiting for something that is compatible with my current Nikon D50. So I can migrate my batteries and SD cards. ahah
