i have foreign friends who are coming over to kuching. anyone please just list out interesting places to visit including places in the outskirts of kuching. thanks. just need a summary lol.

fort margherita
fairy cave
wind cave
bako national park
main bazaar
carpenter street
pandan beach
siar beach
damai beach
gunung santubong
sarawak cultural village
jong crocodile's farm
buntal
matang
batang air resort
borneo highlands
lundu
sarawak museum
cat museum
state library?????????
friendship park????????
secluded turtle island

just point out those which are missing from the above mentioned. any recommendations are mostly welcome. does the tourism info centre near the sarawak museum provide infos on these places and ways to get there? tourism in kuching is comparable to a prematurely born child.

Oooh.. I too have a couple of friends coming over for a visit in July.. for RWMF.. but told them to join day tours or whatever, as I might not be around to play chaffeur/tour guide.

Everytime I have friends over from overseas visiting, it's best to find out what sort of things they would like to do. Not all say, would be interested in going to places like bako or trekking through the jungle. Alternatively there are some who would prefer the outdoors to museums or cultural shows.

Gunung Gading is a another good place. Call in advance to check if there are any Rafflesia in bloom. The waterfalls there are also great since hardly anyone goes in the weekdays. It's like having your own private waterfall!

City tours aren't bad either, the guide can tell you a lot about the history of Kuching that we probably won't know of or know very little of.

What about those river cruises? Dinner and show in the evening cruise I believe?

Last but not least, the fooood! That said, not all visitors are adventurous when it comes to food or can handle some of the spicier popular dishes, and even then they might have a somewhat weak stomach when it comes to handling outside food.

I checked from the resort telephone pricing for cabin is $552 (2 rooms, 2km away from main resort & morning breakfast). Return trip from below mountain is $25. hmm... not sure i'm getting "cut-throat" in my own backyard... (for reference of other members who may want to go next time).
