They show 'Ally Mcbeal' or might I say 'aired' Ally McBeal years ago! Some of those films are shown on Astro; I saw the Sleeping Dictionary on Astro last year, and at least half of that list is on Star World, Cinemax and HBO. I think there's something off with that list. The only thing they did ban on Astro was 'Temptation Island.'

Passion of the Christ was allowed; but under strict rules and screening.

...and Kylie: Live in Sydney is banned? This is demented...

Yeah... haha the hellboy thing reminds me of
Budak Neraka ! hahaha!

It just doesn't give much of power after the translation to Malay. Iron Man = Orang Besi??? They should try to beautify the titles by using more suitable Malay words.

I don't think there is any suitable translation for 'Hellboy' and 'Iron Man' apart from 'Budak Neraka' and 'Lelaki Besi.'

Saw II and Saw III were banned too. Any ideas that the writer and producer, James Wan, is a Kuchingite?

Mmm... we don't have to apply the direct translation. There must be other more flowery words for replacement. It's Orang Besi by the way and I was once very good in Malay when I was in secondary school. But I feel sorry for 'Iron Man' as my Malay has got 'rusty' and got to be 'polished' up before I could get him a better name in Malay. Hehhehe

Isn't 'man' 'lelaki' in Malay? Less flowery, more pragmatic, why translate at all? I saw Saw II and III, it was violent beyond gruesome. Jimmy Choo never got the recognition he had for shoes in native Malaysia until a few years back, while Princess Diana and New York socialtes began lauding him in the 90s. Mr Wan is suffering from a lack of recognition sadly.

All these censorships and controls is meant to 'protect' the masses from undue influences, but sadly, it can also be used as a tool to control the masses, control information and promote a certain propaganda or stance.

well, hellboy is used in GSC cinema, where as other locals cinema like STAR or Growball cinemax in kk used super sapiens instead. And normally the word sex is also changed, but at GSC its all allowed. wondering why..
Oh ya, Taib Statements of holding hands is generally for ALL CERTIFIED couples i bet...but for me...since waterfront is already a threat even for a JUST aRRIVED coupled from PERAK a week ago while walking at the waterfront. I still aware of the safety measures. So scared to be rob or even get killed if that time i resist to give anything. They should UN GATHERED all the suspicious youths lepaking there...

Hmm Hollywood credited James Wan as an 'Aussie' screenwriter and producer.
