Does anyone here own a blackberry? Can you tell me how useful it is to you, and what you use it for?

I am thinking about buying one, but I am not really sure how badly do I need one and what types suits me. I mean, there are some products (eg mobile phone) that once you have it you know you cant live without it. Is it the same with Blackberry?

How much does an Unlock BB9000 (Bold) and BB9500 (Storm) cost in Kuching?

I love love love love love my BlackBerry. I pretty much use it for everything. I would highly recommend the Storm, but it is a little bulky for me. My Pearl is wonderful, but the functions are a little limited, but the size is just perfect.

Usually, I would use the other devices to edit and read through documents on the go, or use the Messenger, or surf the net, if time allows. If you really need to check your emails that frequently, there are other options like PDAs and WiFi enabled phones, but the BlackBerry is a very nice statement. Depending on your model, my Pearl does not have the 'editing' function.

Not sure about the going price now, but it should be around RM2000 onwards. If you're on Celcom Postpaid, and you are on a BlackBerry account, they can give you a new Storm complementary, but you need to maintain a bill of RM1000 per month. I cannot live without my BlackBerry. Yes, I am one of those people.

I tried it for a few hours, I went crazy. Me without my device is, well, I can cope, but barely, as I know something, somewhere, is trying to contact me. It's a double-edged sword; you can't live with it, yet you can't live without it.

RM1000 a month is easy, if you travel a lot, and you are constantly on roaming. The BlackBerry network charges come from two operators, you are double charged when you make calls overseas, and we all know the 'penalty charges' for someone calling you when you're on roaming is prohibitive.

The number is painful, it really is; that's why they throw in a complementary BlackBerry Curve (or was it Bold?) to ease the pain.

Is Blackberry services really that good? I mean on a scale of 1 to 10?

I'd give it an 8. It's good, but not as great as a telephone conversation. There are some limitations, granted, but the main aim of sending and receiving data and email is good enough. It keeps you connected, which is important.
