Bought a Lexmark All in One printer from 3E at Wisma Sabakas, to run with my Laptop which is loaded with Windows Vista. Sales assistant confirmed printer was compatible with Vista but when tried to hook up printer would not interact with Laptop despite several install/uninstall and trying to find driver for vista from Lexmark website. Took printer back to 3E who spend over 2 hours trying and failing to install, shop called Lexmark representative who was most off-hand and unhelpful and both shop and Lexmark refused to refund saying printer was working OK but ignoring fact that they said would install OK with Vista. Fortunately have got IT guy who will take Lexmark from me and install HP printer instead which we know will work with Vista. Found out too late that Lexmark equipment and their update firmware has not caught up with changes in market.
My advice is steer clear of Lexmark and if you can, take your equipment to shop for them to install to avoid hassle in trying to get back your money.

Think you are right but if I change over now, apart from the cost I will lose all my software.

Tks have had a loook, very good site. Will see if the HP printer matches up tomorrow before tackling further with Lexmark. Understand from IT friend that will have trouble installing if another printer has been installed on the PC/Laptop previously - even when uninstall has been done.

Thats the problem with customer service in Malaysia-no such thing as returning a product if you are not satisfied with it

Not sure its confined to Malaysia, although UK retail probably have stricter codes regarding returning goods most outlets could make it very difficult particurly if you wanted money back.
In case of the printer I offered to pay difference between the Lexmark and another HP or Cannon which I knew would load with the laptop but they would not do that either. Also bought set of extra cartridges and they would not take those back either, despite fact they had not been used. Doesn't say a lot for 3E, might be cheap but definitely won't go there again.

Yes precisely. You have to uninstall completely, reboot and install a new driver for the printer. There's another solution, try not to hook on the same USB port to avoid hardware/driver conflicts.

Hi Bytez
Apologies for the delay in responding. Finally I got things working, kept the Vista but installed HP printer which is working fine. Been busy settling down in Kuching ... got a vehicle now which is great to be able to move around and getting to grips with road conditions in Kuching. Not having such good luck getting some golf in.. rain rain, have so far managed one game at KGs and one at Sarawak Resort Club.

Hehe hope you enjoy the sport though this is the raining season. Last night's fireworks in Kuching was wonderful; The entire city went misty alright!
