It looks like your network crash unexpectedly!
Numbers of reasons may affect such issue occurrence.
1) virus factors
2) wrong network settings (usually won't happen which we ignore)
3) Invalid (system) file(s) triggered

Just want to rectify if it's a countdown box before your computer restart?

If it is, you've infected with Win32.Trojan.(X) virus where (X) can be any name.

These virus can comes from any source, via your ISP, Internet sites, back door.

Simple solution
------------------

Try install avast (www.avast.com) professional and do a soft reboot with scan; during installation there's a prompt - "would you like to do a boot time scanning?" Click 'YES'.

Restart and see if it detects viruses.

If there is, MOVE TO CHEST

My advise is to re-format your whole laptop as you never know those virus had already replaced your system file (depends on the vulnerability)

--------------------------

NO HDD RECOVERY AREA.

1) Probably your Recovery is burnt into a few discs. Please check on that.

2) Usually Recovery discs comes with drivers, software, OS - everything pre-installed.

3) Alternatively, you can reformat with any OS disc without touching those recovery having one condition - Go to your manufactures' site (e.g. HP / DELL / SONY / ASUS) and download the drivers manually, save it into D:\ directory and install later on once you've finished your OS installation.

Dear Bytez,

Thanks for your advice. You were right, my laptop was infected by Win32. Trojan. (X) I will try to install avast profesional later and see whether there is any improvement.

About re-formating my laptop. I was told that the recovery disc data is no longer on my hard disk as the recovery disc was lost when the hard disk was partitioned. I only vaguely remember that I probably have burned the recovery dics into a CD/DVD. But the problem is, I can't remember where I have put the recovery CD/DVD! Any brilliant suggestions?

A few questions that I would like to ask you:
1. What is OS?
2. I don't understand your 3rd statement under NO HDD RECOVERY AREA. Do you mean, i can re-format my laptop without a recovery disc?
3. I am not able to turn on the Windows Security Centre - what shud i do?

Personally, I think re-format the laptop is the ultimate solution . But how can i re-format the laptop without a recovery disc?

Really appreciate ur help as it will cost me a lot of money to get it fixed in London. Million thanks. Awaiting ur reply ...

Ah,

1) OS = Operating System (Windows XP Pro, Windows 98 etc.)

2) Yes you can reformat your own provided you know how to remove the hard disk, format it and put it back on. Some lappie is specially partitioned that way with certain software installed to haul user from installing their own version of OS but some not, depends on the brands. What am referring to is old format & recovery technology. Nowadays, formatting a computer can be an easy task to all with pre-installed one touch format. :)

3) Nope.. you have to find that recovery disc. Otherwise, you may wanna send your lappie into the service center / purchase recovery disc instead. If you have a HP laptop & in singapore, my friend can provide you remedies with a low low fee. Oops... ur in london. :P
