Okay, I have decided to go back to Kuching to get a general feel about my hometown after many years away. First thing first, I need access to Internet, preferably on my laptop with VPN to my company's network.

Can anyone tell me or advise me how do I go about with such connection in Kuching? I have 56k modem back in Kuching but it is too slow for any serious work. I need wifi/wimax/3g/hsdpa equivalent but I don't want to sign up for a year service. I want only Internet access for a month. Is there any prepaid mobile Internet mobile broadband single in Kuching? Which provider? I prefer using wifi. I have 802.11g UK channels. I hope the signal would not intefere with the Malaysian frequency.

How much is the Celcom Prepaid Broadband?

I prefer to work from home than trying to "show off" at cafe with my laptop. I need a place to do some serious work. Not some 10 young school boys starring at my screen while I work from a restaurant.

you could download your email at starbucks, and then upload reply from your outbox. ps: even wifi connection is quite slow in kuching. took me overnight to download my weekend company email.

I wish I could just do my work via email. I need access to my company intranet. I need only an ordinary broadband connection. That should allow me to work off the files stored on the company server.

I am not very technical into the computers but I could connect relatively easy onto the company network from my home.

What technology does Celcom use? Wifi or 3G? I only have Wifi at the moment. But I can get 3G card from here before I go back
