I received a parking compound in MBKS area and I am not happy with it. I felt the system is stupid and unfair.

Scenario:
Honestly, I did park there but for merely ONE MINUTE which means it’s less than a minute. I felt that it would be a waste of RM0.20 coupon if I use it as it would last 30 minutes for it. I put my car wiper up just to indicate that I will be removing my vehicle very soon.

Unfortunately, the parking attendant already issued me a parking compound as soon as I got back. It’s a shame to see MBKS parking attendants who are not understanding towards the indication and doesn’t seem to be capable of making fair judgments.


My Thoughts

I felt that it is very unjustified. If MBKS were to come up with a RM0.01 cent coupon for 2 minute usage, I would be glad to use it. Most of the time, the people would park 1 to 5 minutes. But if we use the 30 min coupons for only 5 minutes, are the public allowed to claim the 25 minutes of wastage?

I parked for less than a minute I get a white paper compound. I could have parked on the side of the road and be “obstruction to the traffic”, but I choose not to as I am rational enough to know that it will be blocking against other cars. That would be worse and cause traffic congestion. Instead I get a parking compound for such consideration. It’s just unreasonable.

I send the letter with the above content to MBKS but was rejected and told "Lima ringgit saja, bayar di bawah". I would like to make a point that money is not the main issue here; I would pay if I am forced. I am just not happy for what I am paying for. I felt unjustified over the matter.

I may be giving a bad advice. My advice is, just pay the parking compound.

MBKS parking attendants, as far as I know, they don't get commission from the parking compound or parking ticket. But the police do. I heard this from multiple source, a lot of police issue speeding ticket, yellow line parking ticket, no entry ticket, and all sort of driving offences tickets backdated a few months back and had them send to your house. The worse thing is... because they get a commission out of every ticket they issue, they become very "efficient".... sometimes you will be made to think how on earth can my car be parked at this place at this time when I am at work.

Yes, I might be having the same thought.

I can just pay RM5.00 and get over it. Its fine with me.

But.. the thing is. Why are we letting the authorities pushing around the members of public ? Just because they said so, doesn't mean its fair and justified.

Is the law implemented fair to the members of the public?

MOREOVER, if you notice, the darn mbks are drawing parking boxes all over the area, even behind buildings. they're getting demanding and taking things too far.

or side of the building where ppl would park just for a second to dropoff / pickup stuff. Or pay parking fines / go bank. etc. Those process hardly take up to 5 mins.

Everything money money money. Last time go Petanak buy vegetable also need to pay for entrance fee. At least now they take it down when they realize its pissing off the public.

Some ppl misuse the " putting up the wiper thing" and put for a long time. the parkin attendant must have had a number of this case before s/he issue u the 5 ringgit summon

i also found out that some parking attendant issue u overparking ticket 5 or even 8 minutes before time. they are just lazy to walk back to ur car.

Webbie, don't get driven away with such incident, well, there was once I encountered the similar issue (not quite) while I was back in Kuching which was a bit disturbing; as I parked my car on the lot for less than 5 minutes with a new coupon tapped on the wiper. The next thing I came back was punched coupon holes with 2 overdue parking summons. !!!!! what the fish?

options:
1) pay fine, next time put ticket and jalan jalan for 30 minutes
2) don't pay fine, fight the power
3) recycle the "used" ticket, flip back nicely, & fight the power
4) hire some thug to fight the power
5) don't drive car during "coupon" hours, & fight the power
6) grow vegetables at home, & fight the power
7) remove the wiper from your car, & fight the power

Everything is money nowadays now mah... Thank God in Kuching dont have parking fees like in Times Square in KL, RM7 OR RM12 PER HOUR if i m not mistaken or RM7 or RM12 per entry....

Screw it. why compare to KL. i am talking about Kuching now and don't mislead the topic.

I have the right not to put up with this ridiculous law.

You can't really issue 0.01 or 0.10 etc coupons, they'll cost more than the values they earn...
