I'm currently subscribed to StreamyX 512kbps package. It gets super slow when 3 ppl are using internet at the same time at home.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the 2Mbps package, or subscribing to a Wimax company like Redtone or something.

Should I see a significant improvement if I upgrade to 2Mbps?

I'd like your thoughts please.

friend of mine using Wimax, and its not that fast. intermittent connection. Shows you're connected but no bandwidth transfer taking place.

I am using 1mbps streamyx. 2-3 shared wifi connection. seems ok to me for browsing and normal usage.

no one should use p2p or it will slow down the connection.

Heh yea, I think one of the users is using bitorent to download movies. Its always slowest when she does that.

Hence I figure if I just upgrade, at least make it abit faster for the rest of us to just do normal browsing.

No point of upgrading if she does not adjust the available bandwidth (downloading/uploading) column in the torrent software. The greater speed you subscribe to means she will benefit more from it.

Just curios, why do they need to supply a new router when I upgrade to 2Mbps or 4Mbps?

Can't I just use my existing router or go get my own? I don't wanna use their router but it seems I don't have a choice.

They supply Aztech routers but I don't really like em. I prefer Linksys.

4Mbps is RM$268 per month incl modem. There's no 'w/o modem' option.
