the problem with most digi cams are with outdoor pics at night.

I would recommend you to stick with your original options.

For Canon and Nikon, I think the biggest bulk of your investment go to the brand image rather than technology. With Olympus, they usually pack more features into the camera that is in the same categories as the competitors. While for Lumix, you get higher quality features for higher price of course.

I suggest you go with Lumix.

Yea man. Lumix has Leica lenses. Really makes nice-looking shots.

I use a Lumix and I'm quite happy with it.

I have both olympus and panasonic cameras I would reccomend you go with Panasonic. It has more functions, better image quality especially during daytime shots and also a very good image stabilizer for night time shots. It also uses SD cards which are significantly cheaper than the xD cards used by olympus.
