Anyone know the reason for Streamy X speed slowdown recently.
So slow this morning (Thursday) my speed down about 60% until late morning. Now appears to be slowing again.

im not sure if this help, but i've been understand that TM has reduced the speed of all P2P, youtube, and rapidshare site to half...
the reason why they did this because they believe these website can hack their system blablabla (i dont understand much about these kind of stuff)... im not too sure what's the meaning, but, it do sounds like that... i'll try to give the link asap... =)

Well my test speed is back to normal this morning but have just tried UTube and its certainly more dis-jointed than normal so sherif has something there.
TM service and backup is terrible, I went for over 3 weeks recently with continual breaks in connection, phoning TM helpline every day, sometimes twice a day. They found the problem quickly - poor quality port which they said needed changing, but it took a further 2 weeks before they finally changed the port to resolve the problem.
Paying nearly RM100 a month for this really irritates me, Sarawak must have one of the slowest speed and worst quality service in the Far East. I read somewhere that Australian companies are slow to do business with Malaysia because of poor internet facilities and I can understand that.

you may want to switch to Redtone when your streamyx contract expires.

friend of mine subscribed to it and he said its good.

probably they are in a process of upgrading or something... i remembered they did sent a notice mentioning that there might be a temporary slow in connection. they wanted to beat all other new operators, so cepat2 upgrade

You might wanna read this as I heard TM is parting it too.

I have to admit. our crap ISP in Sarawak is the worse in the region, no doubt about that. Broadband is similar to the aging 56k modem connectivity. But Penang's broadband, as claimed by one of my friend - is pretty smooth and transmit agreeable pings.

I bet you all wanna try out WIMAX by redtone but their plans are kinda costly. Same thing, when user demands and increase.. it's unlikely that you'll get smoother streams. I just don't understand why fibre optic cable are still allienated after years of launch. ADSL is simply cloggy and instable during storms!

I thought things would improve more quickly but not looking that way. At the time I left UK this is what I was getting for around RM95 a month with Virgin Media:

Broadband up to 10Mb on fibre optic +
45 TV Channels Basic + 10 Premier Channels
Unlimited Weekend UK Landline calls.
I could also have unlimited mobile phone calls on Virgin Sim for another RM50............. However... Kuching still better place for me.
