You need to do some comparison shopping. Is there a price compare website in Msia?

Look at ebay and lelong too. I mostly buy used computer components. It has save me alot of money.

Have you been to Low Yat? Is Sim Lim any better?

I use EVGA cause motherboard is lifetime warranty and it is easy to overclock and support on their forum is good.

I will try other motherboard next time.

i haven't been working as a computer technician a long time. my knowledge might not be most up to date. previously i recommend gigabyte motherboard. they comes with better and more durable solid japanese capacitor. asus motherboard often perform faster but may be supplied with cheaper equivalent parts.

asus motherboard at one stage come with doggy capacitor and so are a lot of other motherboard manufacturer who chose to use electrolytic capacitor, MSI, abit, etc.. no problem for the first few years. After a while, windows start to behave crazily. Freshly installed windows start to crash randomly... it took me a good long while to troubleshoot this one... opened up the case and took up to examine the motherboard itself.. i realised a lot of these motherboard use those electrolytic capacitor start to bulge, leak, cap burst, etc.

My experience with Gigabyte? Haven't seen a blown japanese capacitor.

Yes, if you bought the retail version of it.

If you use the software that comes with your PC/Laptop, it may or may not work.

Best is to buy the retail version.

Look for x64 version if you can since everybody is going there.

erm, so i install x64?
Will it be operate better if install x86? or is there any x86?
And please advice what does it mean by retail version.
Thanks.

You want to install x64 if your memory is more than 3.6 GB.

Some say it will run faster. To me I dont see much of anything.

If you want to have 100% compability with software, install x86 for now. I say stay for 2-3 yrs. You are not too late.

Retail version of Windows means bought at the store(real one) and doesnt make preinstall on your PC/laptop. With retail, you can install on a few PC. When you reach limit, you might have to call Microsoft. Just tell them your PC/laptop keep rojak (say 3rd world country effect).
