KUCHING: Residents who might have complaints on Kuching South City Council (MBKS) services could write-in to the council or approach and talk to the mayor regarding their issue.

MBKS mayor James Chan urged people with dissatisfaction on the council’s services to approach him instead of going straight to the press, at the ‘Better Kuching City, Better Life’ MBKS Thank You Dinner 2010 here on Monday.

“Instead of pointing fingers or voicing their disappointment to the press before clarifying the matter, why don’t they come to see me straight? I have plenty of time for them.

“We don’t react to finger pointing or negative criticisms. We accept formal complaint letters or they can come and talk to me about it,” said Chan.

Besides, he hoped that the people will also commend the council and not just criticise it. He reminded them that when the council had done their job well, it deserved compliments too.

He complimented his staff for their hard work in contributing towards the smooth operation and running of the council.

He also urged staff to be responsible and effective so to improve their services and standard.

The gathering was held to provide a forum for community leaders to know the direction and efforts that had been made by the council to enhance community activities and services.

“MBKS should help the government to achieve its objectives when implementing its policies and at the same time, able to give customers the services they expect.

“A hands-on friendly, understanding and educated approach between MBKS and our people will certainly go a long way towards being more effective and attain the satisfaction in its service delivery,” stressed Chan.

He also said he was happy that the councillors and other staff were able to work as a team in their efforts to make Kuching a clean and healthy city to live in.

He hoped for more cooperation, team work and continuous strives for improvement to make Kuching city a more desirable tourism destination.

good job mayor! What do you think about setting up a facebook account where we can direct complaints to you without too much bureaucracy?
