hi all, im thinking to buy a new digital camera. just for normal use, snap some nice photos where ever i go..

but i do not have any idea of what brand and model to buy..

can all the pros here give me some suggestion? preferable Sony..

No many pros will suggest Sony :) Why don't you consider Nikon or Canon? Or even Panasonic?

cos i ever use sony i think it was T9 or what model.. the one with 8.1mp i find is good if compare to other brand like canon or wat..

i dunno la, cos it was 3-4 years ago.. mayb now other brand improve..

I think the best thing to go for is with the prices of the camere. My first digital camera cost only RM188 and the result is good! but if you ask me what do I want then of course a DSLR with full frame(or 35mm frame). So it all depend on what you are looking for. Another important issue with be the type of lense ethier a fix lense or a lense with optical zoom function.

for DSLR, i ever tried on my fren nikon 3100 but i still cant find wat is so interesting about it... haha.. so i dun think DSLR first

Wow, can still buy Digicam for under RM$650? Hehe.... most of the ones I look at is about RM$1k.

But anyways the digicams I would recommend (in particularly order) is:

1.) Panasonic Lumix
2.) Canon
3.) Fujifilm
4.) Sony

But those four brands usually you'd have to spend over RM$800 for the newer models I think. Unless you go for Fujifilm JX200 or Canon Powershot A480.

You can buy an Olympus or Nikon or Casio for your price range. But I am not a fan of Olympus compact cameras. The picture quality doesn't come out good.

However if you can up your budget abit, I do think that Fujifilm and Canon will give you the best value camera for your money.

Have you tried Samsung? Their compact camera range seems quite affordable too. I haven't used any so i don't know how they are.

Before they were known as a brand that produces affordable televisions. But Samsung is now a brand that is at the forefront of design and technology innovation. Just look at their televisions and cellphones now. I wouldn't be surprised if their cameras are pretty decent to use too.
