Fly over traffic woes Posted on March 12, 2011, Saturday Fed govt approves RM50 mln for the long-awaited flyover at Jalan Song-Tun Jugah intersection KUCHING: The traffic congestion at the intersection of Jalan Song and Jalan Tun Jugah will end 24 months from now with the construction of the much anticipated flyover. Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan told a news conference at Kuching International Airport (KIA) upon his return from Kuala Lumpur yesterday that the federal government had approved a RM50 million allocation to construct a flyover at the intersection to ease the traffic flow in the area. He said the contract which was awarded through open tender had been given to Pembinaan Nomisual Sdn Bhd and work on the project was to commence from March 17. He said the scope of work for the upgrading project include a dual carriageway bridge with a total length of 318m on both sides from the city to KIA as well as the upgrading of the Jalan Tun Jugah (1.8km), Jalan Song (0.47km) and Jalan Laksamana Ang Cheng Ho (0.37km). “With the completion of this project, we hope to enjoy a comfortable and safe road network along Kuching by-pass areas,” he said. Dr Chan said this project would be able to eliminate the bottleneck traffic along this main protocol road. The construction of the flyover bridge and upgrading work would be supervised by the Public Works Department (JKR).

i hope to see one aerobridge linking Tadika Sunny Hill and 3rdmile old bazzar.i saw many times ,pedestrains risking their lives crossing over the road. some are elders and not very steady when they sort of "climb" over the dividers. im not looking forward to any incidents but i afraid something bad may happen.
