KUCHING: Armed men were believed to have escaped with an estimated RM400,000 in cash when they robbed a businessman in Kota Samarahan late Tuesday night.



The incident occurred around 11.15pm when the victim, driving alone, stopped to pick up two unknown men standing by the roadside.



Sources indicated that the men, believed to be foreigners, had hitched a ride with him before relieving him of the cash at knife-point.

The money belonged to a company believed involved in the timber industry which the businessman had family links with.

The victim was not harmed in the incident.

Samarahan district police chief DSP Abdul Rahman Ahmad confirmed the incident yesterday.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a security guard was robbed at knife-point by three men at Kuching Waterfront late Monday night.

The 30-year-old victim was waiting for a water taxi to go home to Kampung Tupong Ulu when confronted by three unknown men around 11.30pm.

The men, who were armed with a knife, demanded for his shoulder bag and threatened to harm him if he refused.

The guard surrendered the bag which contained RM500 and some personal documents to the men who fled on foot.

The victim managed to make his way back home and lodged a police report the next day.

this is getting too common in Kuching. can anyone enlighten me on what the businessman are aiming for actually? Insurance claim?

Or they never had such money and just to delay employee's payday. Pretend its lost and no one gets paid.

Read the news, it sounded so doubtful. You're carrying RM400,000 with you in the car ! I repeat , RM400,000!

and you saw 2 unknown men and pick them up !
and you ended up being robbed !

no pity to people who are genetically stupid. for me, the saddest crime incident was at MJC last week (if im not mistaken) where 3 young girls aged 14-17 (pls correct me) happend on their back home around 10pm from cyber cafe. 1 died and the other 2 stil in critical situation at SGH. what happen to the world today? extremely sickenning! if you wanna rob...rob a bank! why dare to rob young girl handphone that worth less than rm500 when you trade in it? stupid ka? sori...cant tahan...need to burst. worried for my lil baby girl for the world today!

i won't give anybody a lift even if i got Rm400 in my pocket,what more to say...RM400k ! .itu bukan stupiad ,that is...younno i know lah

disk79, yea. after that case, suspect has been detained but till today no followup on Borneo Post as usual. there is always no ending towards any report they make.

Sound too odd to be true. Firstly, why carry RM 400k cash? Have he not heard of something call bank account? Why can't he transfer the money through the bank instead of carrying cash for transaction?

Why pick up two stranger when you are carrying so much cash in hand?

Why drive home and report police only the next day? If I have been robbed for RM 400, I will report police straight away. Why wait till the next day then report police? Waiting for the culprit to disappear through the sempadan before making the police report?

If you ask me, I think he deserved to be robbed. Unless he is being hypnotised.

Normally, normal people/(especially businessman who only interest to make big money) will not stop even if they see people/things during driving at night.
I think the "armed men" were actually ladies/pondan wearing sexy & the businessman feeling horni for midnight snack. then now very paiseh to say the real story.
