Polar-Link to build Kuching?s biggest walk-up apartment

POLAR-LINK Sdn Bhd is developing Kuching's single biggest four-storey walk-up apartment project with 784 units, in the new growth Samajaya area.

The project is located near the Samajaya Free Trade Zone, home to Sarawak's hi-tech industries.

Polar-Link director and general manager Paul Chiu said the proposed Samajaya Apartment project would be completed in three years. ''Each unit has a floor area of 700 sq ft with three bedrooms.

''The design deviates from conventional apartments, and all the units have a corner view to provide good ventilation,'' he said in Kuching yesterday after the project launch by company chairman Lau Swee Nguong.

The units are priced from RM79,990 to under RM100,000 each. Next to the apartments, Polar-Link is building a shopping mall, which will be one of the biggest in Kuching.

The company has signed up Ngiu Kee Corp (M) Bhd, Sarawak's oldest and largest department store chain, as anchor tenant for the mall.

hahah.
they built the place at the industrial area. sama jaya.
probably its meant for the residents there.

and I am very sure you know what shops they are going to open there. everyone rushing to get the most strategic shop. 1st thing, Siang Siang.. then followup by Expert.

then the China product fan club come and open up 20cent,
Hot 688, RM5 Shop, lolol and whole lot more.

i can't imagine the rest.

Ngiu Kee invests in hypermarket

BY JACK WONG IN KUCHING
NGIU Kee Corp (M) Bhd will invest about RM7mil in a hypermarket in Samajaya Shopping Mall, Kuching, which is expected to be operational in 12 months.

Chief executive officer Yong Siew Kat said Ngiu Kee would be the mall's anchor tenant and would offer over 70,000 items, including fresh produce, health and beauty products, toys, clothing, electrical appliances and hardware do-it-yourself products.

?Over 90% of the supermarket products will be sourced locally and the balance from Peninsula Malaysia, China and Australia. For the department store, almost 100% of the products will be sourced from Peninsula Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam,? she added at a tenancy agreement signing ceremony between Ngiu Kee and Polar-Link Sdn Bhd, the developer of the Samajaya Shopping Mall in Kuching yesterday.

Polar-Link was represented by its chairman Lau Swee Nguong at the signing ceremony.

The mall, which is expected to be ready in June next year, will have a built-up area of 250,000 sq ft, comprising 20 shoplots, 20 promotional areas and some 500 parking lots. Yong said the mall would introduce the concept of retail and entertainment through a series of activities for shoppers.

Ngiu Kee, which now operates 10 departmental stores in Sarawak and one in Sabah, expected to open its first hypermarket in Miri in two months.

?We have targeted, as a long-term plan, to open at least one hypermarket a year for the growth of the company. The plan is to open hypermarkets in Sibu, Bintulu and Kota Kinabalu,? Yong said. To support the growth of the local retail industry, Ngiu Kee would form strategic partnerships with local suppliers with manufacturing base to produce its own brands of products, she said.
